When J was outside weeding the yard, Lesee came up to him and put her hands on her hips and said "Gee Dad, those are growing swell." She just keeps 'em coming.

Goodbye Grandpa Lee

Yesterday 7-29-07, we lost our beloved grandpa Lee. He died of natural causes and will be sorely missed by all his family. Over to the right is a picture I stole from Darby's blog of Grace and Leland on their wedding day I assume. They were truely happy and had such a wonderful posterity! That posterity includes my husband and as a married-in-member of the Cowles family I have a few things to say and I think that gpa Lee would agree with me on...

I'm amazed at how well everyone gets along in this family!! There are hardly any fights whatsoever. I've been in the family for 6 years now, and I don't remember even one fight. THAT'S impressive!

I'm impressed and love the way that everyone shows up to events, even if we just saw each other the day before or even the day of. Everyone shows up to just "hang out" is all usually.

I'm impressed with all the good food that is donated to all the gatherings. I'm impressed with Margaret's sense of creativity when it comes to coming up with nbew things to eat. She seems to always have something new that she tried and I love that! They're always good too! Diane seems to know how to make anything but with an easier way to get it done faster and yet it still tastes wonderful! That's impresive!

I'm impressed with the sense of humor that this family posseses. Everyone brings something to the table but Erin, Marilynn, Mark, and Jason seem to be the front runners in this department. :) Sunday nights are always fun and especially funny when all show up and contribute comments. Sometimes the noise level is out of control a bit but, still.

The love this family has for one another is what is truely amazing. We see each other so often and yet, we still miss someone when they're not there. Case in point, grandpa Lee. You will be missed Lee!

Yet Another quote

so, last night our little fam was driving home from gma/pa Wood's home. Ellyse wanted to stay there after a quick visit to get something from their house so we let her stay there while we went grocery shopping. After we were done we picked her and Allie up from their house, As J was backing out of their driveway, he asked Lesee if she liked grandma and grandpa's house better than mommy and daddy's house. After a moment of silence she finally uttered "Actually......it's MY house." It took us a minute but, we both ended up laughing. Selfish little kid! :)

Weddings

Weddings
Today as I was driving in to work I heard an ad on the radio for Castlebrook reception center. They were advertising that they have personal wedding consultants when you book through them or something like that. Then when I was lurking through Darby's blog, I read about her despise of all the corniness ( is that a word?) that comes along with weddings. She commented on the announcements and the registry tags and the pictures and all of this made me think about how much I like weddings and how much fun it would be to be a wedding consultant. :)

I love almost everything about weddings, especially the cake and the dress. I used to work in a Bridal shop and I loved it! I found my own personal dress when I was working there. I can't remember if I was helping a girl try it on or just walking by getting something else for a bride to be but I do remember looking at it from behind as she was looking in the 3-way mirror and thinking to myself...that's my dress. It was like love at first site type stuff, I just knew it. Same thing happened with my veil. Some girl had it on in the shop and I just knew that it was the one I wanted for my ensemble. The lady I worked for made me try on a bunch of dresses when it came time for me to get a dress- just to make sure and also to give me the experience of trying on some many "pretty dresses" - but sure enough, I walked out of there with that dress and veil that I'd already had picked out in my mind. I think it all looked beautiful when I got all dressed up. I'd never felt more like a princess in my life, than on that day. And Jason knows how much I love to feel like royalty. :) It was a beautiful day in August of '01 and the weather was absolutely fabulous! Not to hot, not to cold, and a light breeze was blowing. We got married and sealed in the Bountiful UT temple and then had a luncheon at a ward house in Roy. I'd chosen to have our reception the night after we got married, not the night of, and man was I ever right on the money. That night I think a small tornado hit SLC with rain and terrible weather and would've forced us inside had we had our reception that night. Instead we had it the following evening outside at the WSU Alumni Center and man, it was sooo fun!! The weather again was perfect! The wind kicked up while we had our ring ceremony but by the time the reception started, the weather was well, like I said, perfect! I loved every minute of it! I had stories of our courtship on the tables to read and a piano and violin serenaded us, although I didn't get to hear much of that at all, I wish that I would've though! We had a receiving line most of the night and then the garter belt hoopla and the cutting of the cake. Ah, memories.

We had red roses and white lilies as our flowers. Black and white and red were our colors. Our cake turned out MARVELOUS!!! I have to say, it's the prettiest wedding cake I've seen to date. No offense to any one else's cake but, man, it was beautiful!! Jason and I each spread it around each other's faces a bit and it was a lot of fun to cut the cake! I wish I had pictures handy but I don't. Anyway, I could go on and on but I guess I should stop. I'm just so grateful that our wedding turned out as wonderful as it did and I should thank my parents right about now again for them letting me do a lot of the things that I'd always dreamt about doing on my wedding day.

What if it's a boy?

I have to say, we've been blessed with two darling girls!! Ellyse is our oldest and Allie is our newest. I love these two with all my heart. They are my precious little treasures.
I remember when J and I went to see what sex Ellyse was when I was still gestating with her, we stood on the steps in our condo soon before we left for the hospital, I asked J, "What if it's a boy?" because I soo longed for a girl. I wanted our baby to be a girl so badley that I remember hating the blue privacy drape that they were using in the room we were in to have the ultrasound because blue meant boy. Not that boys are bad or anything, but I just had a deep and overwhelming desire for our first baby to be a girl. After the tech and Doc revealed the news to us, I had them rate their knowledge of "it" being a girl. I asked them how sure they were and wasn't really completly satisfied with the 99.9% answer they gave until I actually saw Ellyse.
When I was prego with Allie, I remember early on, seeing a brand new baby boy in his car seat at Target photo studios and thinking I needed and wanted a baby boy but after that faded, I really didn't care which sex we were to have. I knew if we had a girl, we'd have a bunch of hand-me-down clothes to use and wouldn't have to buy a lot more but if it was a boy, the house that we moved into already had a darling already painted blue room that was to be the new babies nursery so, either way was good. :) I do, however, remember saying "yes!" after the ultrasound tech and doc told us we were having a girl the second time around though.
Bottom-line though, I really like having two girls!!! Really Really!

Needed a pedicure

I got a spa pedicure this weekend with my friend from college, Jen. As you can tell, I needed one BAD. :)
It was fun and nice to pamper myself a little bit. I'd had a pedicure before at a hair salon and it just wasn't all that much fun, especially for the price! The one I had this weekend was tons better and about 15.00 cheaper. I got a rich maroon shiny color for the polish. Then we headed to Old Navy and got 2.00 flip flops to show my pedicure off. :) Fun girl's night out!
p.s. if you really think these are my feet, you're very very wrong.

Chalk it up to the run-off. Go SLC!!!!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19865855

Check it out! SLC has received recognition for the wonderful crisp taste of the tap water. Just another wonderful thing about SLC!!
My mom has recently mentioned that the Ogden valley's water has won accolades for it's taste too. I really noticed a big change from my parent's water and our previous condo's water. The valley's tap water, at my mom's house, rocks!!
Go Utah!
p.s. Jason, you were right about bottled water just being tap water; in some cases anyway.

Just recently,

Jason and Ellyse were driving home in the car together and Lesee had the hiccups. Jason asked her "do you have the hiccups," "yes" was the reply. "Who gave you those hiccups?" Jason asked sarcastically, after a few minutes of thought, Lesee said..."I think, I think Jesus gave me those hiccups."

Our Funny little girl, Ellyse

One Sunday before church, my parents stopped at our house and dropped some things off. Ellyse was dressed for church but didn't have any underwear on. We had just barely made diapers forbidden and hadn't bought underwear yet so, she went commando for a few days.... less laundry. When my parents picked her up to hug and kiss her goodbye they both mentioned to her that she had a bare bottom. Later, Ellyse and I were in the kitchen and all the sudden she layed down on her back, lunged her legs in the air and looked "down there" and said..."there's a bear in there?" I was rolling.

Potty Training

When our Daughter, Ellyse, was learning being potty trained, I asked her if she needed to go poo poo in the potty and she said no, of course. Then I bribed her by saying I'll give you a big prize if you do, her response.."no, I'll take the cheap prize."

so, this is all new to me...

so, this is all so new to me, it took me about 1/2 hour just to figure out how to post a comment. We'll see how long it takes me to figure this blogging stuff out. I figure it's something new to try and hopefully connects me with more of my friends and family.
