Grand Teton Vacation

We just returned home from a vacation to the Grand Teton National Forest and parts of Yellowstone. Now, a while back to ask me to go to the Teton's I would've said, we've been there, done that, let's move on to something we haven't seen lately. But this trip we found a secluded picnic area overlooking Jackson Lake and it had the Teton's as a backdrop and man, it was breathtaking! The picture is one that I got off the internet but the real thing looked pretty similiar to this without the fall colors. I could've stayed there for hours and hours and hours just looking at it. We ate a few meals at this picnic area and Ellyse got a personal boat tour out to what we deemed "Lesee Island" by her grandpa Brent. They were in a blow up boat with oars used to propel it and the wind kicked up and honestly, I got a little scared. Diane, Lance, Michelle, Jason, Allie, and I were all up on shore playing a rousing game of Shanghi Rummy and as the wind picked up, it prevented us from playing because the cards kept flying everywhere so, we stopped and we noticed how far out gpa and Lesee were. I started to worry and so did gma. After about an hour, they finally made it back to us safe, and according to gpa B, it really wasn't that bad when you were out there and Lesee kept egging him on to go to the island and not turn around. So, obviously, they had fun, we just had a better vantage point to seeing the dangers that were lying ahead for them. It all turned out fine and that's what matters most.

The trip itself was good. Had a few moments where I wanted to chuck our kids out the window and let the wildlife find them but, for the most part really good. :)

August 21st, 2007 6 Years!

Today is actually Friday but, I'm going to talk about Tuesday. It was Jason and I's 6th wedding anniversary on Tuesday. Cool huh?! It's weird to stop and think about how old I'm getting at times. Knowing that we've been married for 6 years and have 2 kids is just hard to believe at times, even though I'm living it....anyway... Tuesday was the big 6 years! Jason and I each had to work that day but we met up later that evening and he got me my favorite ice cream and hid it in the freezer (where else would you hide ice cream?) and wrote me a poem and put some much anticipated love songs on my ipod. Very nice! We listened to them on the way to dinner at Olive Garden and then to the movies. Diane and Brent were very nice to take the girls off our hands so we could go out and be together. It was a really nice night and I'm so grateful to have Jason in my and our kids lives!! I won't get too mushy but, he's such a fun, loving, geniune person that I'm lucky enough to be with for Eternity. Happy Anniversary to us!

Stupid bug... oh wait..

Saturday, we took advantage of the deal at IHOP of buy 1 get 1 free dinner entree coupon and we were sitting eating our breakfasts for dinner and there was a fly flying around our food. Kent happened to mention something about wishing that the bug wasn't around the food, just in casual conversation but Lesee's ear antenna's picked up that sentence and out came "Stupid bug!" Now, she's already been in time outs, yes plural, JUST for saying stupid. It's just not a word I want her saying yet. She knows that she shouldn't be saying that word
(even though mom and dad say that and several other words we don't want to hear in her vocabulary yet and or ever :) ) So, after she uttered that phrase she earned a long hard stare from me. As we sat starring she could tell it was a you-did-something-wrong stare and she blurted out..."Smart bug!" She'd just used the opposite of the word she's not suppose to use. That darn kid is to smart for her own good. Kent and Jason and I all started laughing out loud too hard and long to make any sort of dent in the fact that she had actually said stupid, so we just let it lay. Later that evening I was in the kitchen putting away grocercies & I noticied that she was talking to our cat, whom we somewhat lovingly call Satan, and I overheard her call Paddy a Smart Cat! With that, I have to agree...... somedays anyway. :)

Stupid Ants!

I hate ants!! I hate ants! I hate ants! They are driving me crazy at home! I really need help because the stupid little critters have found out where our cat's food is and have made themselves at home in her dish. YUCK!! That means they're getting into our house and into our kitchen somehow. I have tried Raid on several occassions and even a day or two after killing a whole colony of them, they're back in our back yard. ARRRGGGHH!!! What can I do? Any suggestions? I've heard pouring gasoline in the cracks around your house does the trick does anyone else have solutions for me? I don't want to call in a professional pest control person if I don't have to. Help!!!

Brownies...YUM!!!

Today we had fun making brownies for a family reunion coming up soon and I caught this picture that I thought was cute. Chocolate's just not as fun unless you get it schmerred all over your face. :)

Lost Weight!!

I'm currently on a quest to lose the pregnancy weight that I gained. Wednesdays are my weigh-in days and so, this morning I weighed in and I'd lost some weight which is way exciting! I was getting dressed and Ellyse was right beside me, as usual, and I said "Guess what Lesee?" ..."What?"... "Mommy lost some weight! That's a good thing." She took the information in for a minute and soaked it through her head and spurted out "Where are your weights? " After laughing, I explained that that meant I was getting skinnier. Poor kid thought I'd lost my hand held weights I use to exercise. :)

Remember Banana clips?

Ta da! The banana clip!

So, today I was doing my oldie but holy crap kills me, workout video, yes, VHS is still alive and well in my household, and I noticed one of the girls wearing an old banana clip in her hair and it sparked my memories of a banana clip experience I had as an elementary age child.... My sister, who was ALWAYS and still is always on the fashion frontline, having some banana clips, like the pink and blue ones in the above pic, and I think I either stole it from her, had my own somehow, or wore hers with permission. Anyway, I had received access to use one one day and I remember how totally radical I felt my thick brown and permed hair looked in it on the Valley Elementary schoolgrounds. I remember walking around thinking I was the "it" thing at Valley Elementary and I thought anyone and everyone that saw how beautiful it looked in my hair would kill over in utter jealousy. Okay, so I was vain and still am but, I absolutely loved the way it made my hair look in the back. See the above image of the blonde. :) But, as junior high rolled around, the banana clip was quickly on it's way out and because I was at a tender age, I wasn't about to wear something like THAT again. (in public anyway) Aw, the good old days. I still, deep down in my heart, wish for the banana clip to make a major comeback.... I still think it would make my hair look just as good as it did in the sixth grade, heck, my mom probably still has those old pink and blues ones. I wouldn't even have to go buy new ones :)

For those of you who'd like to attempt the oldie, but holy crap kills me, workout video, it's The Firm's VHS version of their time crunch workout. Use weights, and beware of sore muscles the next day!
